Conscious Viewing

I’m interested in how we perceive reality. What we see and what we ignore.
I use my camera as a tool for becoming more aware of all the beauty around me; the colors, lines, shapes, shadows ...

I use my pictures, and the different forms I give them, to encourage others to be more conscious of what they see. It’s so easy to use the images stored in other brains, instead of really seeing what’s there.

My background

I started to take pictures at age eight and have been doing it more or less often ever since then. And very intensely from 2003 when I switched to digital photography. The fast process suits me and all the digital abilities to share pictures with others makes it a less lonely activity.

Nature has always been my second home and I’ve spent a lot of time hiking, bird watching, bicycling and just going for walks. So it’s natural for me to take pictures in nature, but I use my camera in towns as well.

For twenty years I trained aikido, a martial art, and learned a lot about seeing, focusing and being present. Those qualities I have deepened through zen meditation and now I use them as a main part in my photography.
